the problems of an unwanted pregnancy are demonstrated through the story of a 16-year-old girl. not only must she find her own way to an expert’s office; she realises that she can’t talk to her mother or her boyfriend about the pregnancy; that her girlfriend can’t help her; and that she is at the mercy of doctors and bureaucrats. a woman doctor gives her clear information about the reduced risk of medical complications through vacuum aspiration. the film finishes with a montage over a song about abortion by bertolt brecht. this clear and beautiful film is especially suitable for discussion among young girls.
