At the Mosaik art studio in Berlin, artists with disabilities are absorbed in their work. As Sabine Herpich observes the artists at work, she looks at the institution itself: its processes, staff and spaces. The film succeeds in maintaining its focus on the artistic work rather than on people's disabilities. The institution takes shape around this work so that it becomes visible primarily as a place for art rather than one for people with disabilities. The idea of art becomes holistic: it encompasses the people who make it and the places where it is created. This means viewing and talking about the works, but also seeing art as work, with working hours and a wage. The filmmaker herself does not remain invisible, asking the artists about their thoughts, ideas, methods. There is a heightened sense of mindfulness and sensitivity as the artists in front of the camera meet the gaze of the filmmaker: sensitivity to the moods of the works, their creators and their observers, and also to the style of this film about art.
